AutoworldMore than a musuem
BackWebsiteThanks to the efforts of Ghislain Mahy and his family, the gentle but irreversible persuasion of the then Crown Prince, later King Albert II, the convergence of ministerial responsibilities of the late Vice-President of Autoworld, Minister Louis Olivier, At the time in charge of Public Works and President Herman De Croo, for eight years at the head of the Belgian Department of Traffic, a beautiful jubilee palace was transformed in 1986 in Brussels into a treasury of automobile history, colorful, pedagogical and evolutionary.

The decades-long evolution of technology, comfort, safety and growing environmental awareness is outlined by means of beautiful horse-drawn carriages and numerous motor vehicles. From the first almost archaeological models to the contemporary car, the forerunner of the car of tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, visitors are guided through the marvellous history of the car through technically elaborate yet clear comments.

Autoworld is a private museum that rents its buildings from the community. It is open almost 365 days a year and is run cost-consciously by a great team of employees and a motivated board of directors. It is the setting for many car-related and other stylish events.
In recent years, and especially since 2010, the museum has undergone numerous changes and permanent improvements with the construction of new zones such as 'Sport & Competitie' (2012), 'Belgium at Autoworld' (2014) and the modern and authentic workshops (2015). Every two years, a prestigious exhibition is organised on the mezzanine, which always attracts a wide audience, and during the year, there are numerous smaller temporary themed exhibitions that are always linked to the car and that respond to a loyal audience that is increasingly looking for novelties.
